K, we cannot contain our excitement with this very special edition Q & A -- we have a male perspective in the house and we can't wait to share with you. Typically we would not allow this in our for women, by women platform, BUT we aren't mean girls like that and this story is sure to deliver in the #fitnessgoals category.
We have been following Mike Donavanik for quite some time now and he is honestly one of the best in the business when it comes to fitness programs, a positive attitude and keeping yourself motivated.
His 10 min (with the option to repeat for a longer workout) video workouts that you can literally do anywhere are freaking amazing. Not only are the videos entertaining AF (with his commentary and 'the struggle is real' perspective), but you get in a serious sweat session in just 10 minutes. So for anyone who says they do not have time to workout, is a liar liar pants on fire -- we are sure you could find 10 minutes in your day!

MIKE ON HOW HE GOT INTO FITNESS
I got into fitness because I was an overweight kid…even though I played sports. Finally got my weight under control during my last two years of high school…and went to college with the plan to become a Physical Therapist. While in college started a part time job at a box gym…and it kind of stuck and changed the course of my life. Plus I was a terrible student and the idea of another 6-8 years of school sounded miserable.
I’ve been doing it for 10 years now.
MIKE ON HIS TYPICAL DAY
Not too much down time haha. My down time is when I workout…either my own workout or Barry’s Bootcamp or Soul Cycle.
Monday through Saturday, I typically wake up between 5am and 6am. Have a 2-3 clients, finish around 10 or 11am... then the rest of day is spent creating content, editing, social media, writing, etc. Then throw in some business calls and meetings into the mix as well.
I try to practice intermittent fasting as much as I can. I do the 8 / 16 thing…I eat between the hours of 3pm - 11pm…and I fast the rest of the time. And my diet is wildly inconsistent. Sometimes I can have salad, sushi, something healthy….other times I opt for a big ole’ steak or baby back ribs.
MIKE ON WHAT INSPIRES HIS WORKOUTS
I’m always thinking about new exercises and different types of content to create…so my brain never shuts off haha. It all comes from my head for the most part…sometimes I’ll see something that’s really cool on social media and I’ll definitely take fitspo from that.
This might surprise some people…but I usually make up the 10-minute workouts on the spot once we start filming. I’ve been doing it for so long that I’m pretty quick on my feet and it comes naturally.
MIKE ON WHAT "EMBRACE YOUR JOURNEY" MEANS TO HIM
Hmmmm….I guess to me it means: find joy in the struggle. Nothing worth having comes easy. I hustle non-stop because I honestly love it. Some days are great…and some days are just frustrating AF. You have to be okay with that and embrace those amazing days and learn from those shitty days. Hopefully that makes sense.
MIKE ON TACKLING THE CHALLENGING DAYS
Just get it done! Hahaha. It’s kind of blunt…but that’s truly what I believe. I always think of it this way…you have to do the work anyway, if you skip it right now because you don’t feel like doing it — that’s fine and dandy, but that work will still be there except now you’ll have that work to do…plus the new work that you’re going to get dealt. So like the Nike slogan “Just Do It”.

MIKES ADVICE FOR THOSE ON THEIR FITNESS JOURNEY
Be patient. Patience is the key to happiness in everything LOL. And I really like what you said, “embrace the journey” …you have to fall in love with the process. If you’re only driven by results…that’s going to lead to frustration during the process…and once you achieve those results you’re going to be like “what now?”. But if you fall in love with the work, the hustle, the process….you’re set.

We love Mike's honesty and balance within his journey. You can definitely still have a six pack and eat a donut every now and then. Just like you won't get fit overnight, you also won't "ruin" your progress overnight either!
