Meet Olivia | Her journey to happiness, health and healing

Meet Olivia from Toronto. We have known her for quite some time now and even played on the same soccer team. We have always been taken with her small but mighty attitude, determination and beauty. As you read through her journey below, you will see that she has overcome quite a few obstacles, uncertainties and hurdles, but it hasn't stopped her from being her ever so positive and graceful self.

We admire her desire to not only continue to heal herself, but to bring awareness to autoimmune wellness and self love -- which is something we have all struggled with at one time or another (or continue to deal with). Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and why you began your fitness journey?
A: I neglected myself for many years, always putting others before myself. I people pleased and suppressed my emotions which ultimately led to being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease of the skin, Lichen Planus, in 2015 and an autoimmune disease of the thyroid, Hashmiotos, in 2016.
I decided my lifestyle needed to change because my body was obviously trying to tell me something was wrong. I eliminated all toxicity in order to heal my mind, body and spirit. One of my first steps was to hire a personal trainer earlier this year to begin my path toward a healthier physical and emotional state.
Q: How did you get to where you are now and why? 
A: I reached an ultimate low point in my life in Dec 2016 and instead of allowing it to hinder my life, I took those overwhelming emotions and allowed them to fuel my journey in a positive way.
Everyday, I try to self-reflect and be aware of myself and my actions. This helps me to understand where I need improvement and what requires my focus. Starting my Instagram account, @passionandhustlelife, has also allowed me to stay accountable to myself and has provided me with a fun, creative outlet. 
 
Q: What is your ultimate goal? 
A: To raise my standards in all areas of my life - personally, professionally, emotionally, financially, physically - this is in line with my journey of self-care and self-love. When you know your worth, you don't seek outside approval. 
 
Q: What does the term "embrace your journey" mean to you?
A: What I've learned in life so far is that it most definitely does not go as you expect it to. Situations out of your control will pop up and it is best to ride the wave rather than to become frustrated if there is some turbulence along the way. I believe every situation, both negative and positive, happen for a reason in order to teach us necessary lessons in life. 
Q: Who/what are your biggest inspirations? And why?
A: My inspiration is the fear of unfulfilled potential. I want to make myself proud and in turn make my family proud of me. 
Q: What is your process for tackling a challenge and the hard days?
A: I have extremely difficult emotional days, but what keeps me hustling is remembering the reason why I started - if I don't take care of me, who will? 
 
Q: A piece of advice you'd like to give others on their fitness journey?
A: Smile, be grateful and know we are all destined for greatness!
